AMPLIFYING YOUR VOICE
Meet Edwin.
Born a third generation Arizonan and the youngest of seven children, I’ve watched Mesa grow and change in so many ways. Through my upbringing in a Black and Chicano neighborhood, I watched as our communities were left behind by our leaders.
I watched as our schools transformed from places of education and critical thought to centers of ideological and cultural dogma. I’ve watched healthcare become a burden on working families as prices skyrocket and price transparency evaporates. I’ve watched real wages drop and lobbyists get rich as average citizens are increasingly ignored. We the people should and need to be involved in our politics – not leaving our affairs to actors with questionable motives.
I believe every child should have access to world-class education – and choice in their educational pursuits. We should work to lower healthcare costs for ALL Arizonans and increase price transparency. We must secure our border – for without a border we have no nation. We must not be afraid to embrace our Faith and Beliefs. I am running for State House in Arizona’s 9th Legislative District to represent YOU, the people of Mesa.
Your Neighbor in LD9,
Edwin Gonzales

I believe in expanding school choice and increasing the quality of our education at all levels and in all schools. Every family should have choice in which school their children attend – with a variety of public, charter, and private schools available. For too long we have allowed special interests to politicize curricula, disincentivize innovation, and stifle academic achievement. The next generation growing up in Mesa deserve the best opportunities we can offer. This involves a substantial investment in our future. I support teacher pay raises, funding students instead of systems, and the rights of the parent over the politician.
Our police should be well-funded, well-trained, and well-held accountable for their actions. Additionally, we must invest in further community resources.
We should lower taxes on American families, spend responsibly, and work towards economic growth for ALL Arizonans. I support the repeal of the grocery tax, the repeal of the rental tax, and reform of other regressive taxes that disproportionately affect the working class.
We must offer real treatment and support for those willing to accept it. We ought to do what we can to get the homeless population off the streets and back into society.
Arizona’s water crisis is one of the most important issues facing the future of our State. We must invest in desalinization of our brackish groundwater, better runoff collection systems, and common sense permitting reform that assures water for all new residences and businesses. Additionally, we should be actively working with our fellow Colorado River Compact members to renegotiate water appropriations to better fit the modern day.
Housing costs have spiraled out of control as multi-billion dollar corporations and foreign investors have taken the dream of homeownership away from countless Arizonans. Arizonan homes should be attainable for Arizonans who grew up here – not just investors. We should pass legislation that would disincentivize increasing investor ownership of Arizonan homes and repeal the rental tax while ensuring that these savings are passed down to renters. Additionally, we should work towards reforming the property tax on primary residences where the mortgage has been paid off. Nobody should be forced to sell their home because property taxes were arbitrarily raised.
Nobody should be billed for something that they never consented to. In today’s medical industry, there is a severe lack of price transparency and a major lack of access to critical resources. I support the Right to Try, insurance reform, and equal access to lifesaving medication.
We should ensure that our justice system is fair and treats everybody as an individual with equal rights. I am endorsed by former Representative Walt Blackman, a champion for civil rights and criminal justice reform during his time in the State House.
All should be safe to practice their religion without fear. I proudly support the 1st Amendment.
Jeremiah 1:5
5 “I knew you before I formed you in your mother’s womb.
Before you were born I set you apart
and appointed you as my prophet to the nations.”
1 Peter 4:16
However, If you suffer as a Christian, do not be ashamed, but praise God that you bear that name.
Matthew 10:32-33
32 So everyone who acknowledges me before men, I also will acknowledge before my Father who is in heaven, 33 but whoever denies me before men, I also will deny before my Father who is in heaven.
Romans 1:16
16 For I am not ashamed of the gospel, because it is the power of God that brings salvation to everyone who believes: first to the Jew, then to the Gentile.
Isaiah 6:8
8 Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, “Whom shall I send? And who will go for us?”
And I said, “Here am I. Send me!”
God created us he gave us a voice, we will be prosecuted, do not be ashamed of the gospel and last there are many that are called but only a few act on it so with the conclusion with Isaiah 6:8 it says who shall we send – and I say here I am; send me!
